This route gives the cyclist an opportunity to view the downtown and midtown areas
of Memphis. Begin at the MATA North End Terminal at N. Main St. in the
historic Pinch District, then turn west on N. Parkway and south onto Front St., next turn
west on Jefferson and south again on Riverside Drive. You are where the City meets the
Missisippi River. The route passes the Pyramid, Mud Island River Park, and the historic
Cobblestone Landing, the last remaining cobblestone landing in the U.S. The route then runs up
historic Beale Street, home of the Blues Music and the City's main entertainment district.
The eastern portion of the route follows tree lined
streets with early 20th Century homes, creating a peaceful urban
setting. This portion of the route also affords the opportunity to visit Overton
Park containing the Memphis Zoo and the Brooks Museum of Art.
