Purpose of Project

The purpose of this project is to replace missing pedestrian hand rail at Horn Lake Bridge over Johnston Railroad Yard and Nonconnah Creek and Rivergate Bridge over Nonconnah Creek. Presumably the missing aluminum rail was stolen.

ARRA Bridge Guardrail MapThe City of Memphis, through a Federal Surface Transportation Program Grant totaling $346,050, proposes to replace the missing aluminum handrail with galvanized steel handrail at the two locations mentioned above. This project is 100% Federally funded.

The project is to be done in phases to maintain traffic during construction and all work is to be done from the bridge deck.
