Street Lighting Requests
Requests for Maintenance of Existing Street Lights - 320-1497
Requests for maintenance or repair of existing street lights are directed to MLGW Street Light Maintenance Department. A work order is issued and repairs are made soon as possible depending on severity of the problem. Lamp replacements are generally repaired within two weeks. Replacement of damaged poles and underground cable faults are completed within four to six weeks depending upon equipment inventory and installation crew scheduling. 

Requests for Additional Street Lights to be installed - 576-6500
Requests for installation of new or additional roadway lighting on a city street are directed to the Public Works Street Lighting Coordinator for review and approval. A field review of the location is conducted and a determination is made based upon existing light level standards. When the need for additional lighting is approved a work order is issued to MLGW Street Light Engineering for planning and design of the installation. Engineering plans are submitted back to the City for final installation approval and the project is scheduled for construction. Estimated time to complete the design and construction process is six to twelve months depending upon the size and complexity of the project.

Requests for Lighting in New Developments or Subdivisions - 528-4212
Requests for the installation of street lights in a new development or subdivision are processed through MLGW Distribution Engineering office at the same time the developer is requesting electrical service for their project. The request is coordinated with the Street Light Engineering Department for planning and design of the installation. Once the lighting design plan has been completed and approved the project is scheduled for construction installation. Estimated time to complete an installation is six to twelve months depending upon the size and complexity of the project. 

Requests for Lighting Private Drives and Private Property - 528-4545
MLGW offers their utility customers a Leased Outdoor Lighting (LOL) program that can install poles and street lights on private property such as private drives, alleys, parking lots, etc. Monthly fees for these leased lights vary depending upon the wattage and pole type installed. The energy and future maintenance costs are included in the LOL fees and posted on the utility bill of the requesting customer.
