DepartmentsThe Division of Fire Services is composed of several service centers, or bureaus. Each of these bureaus is an integral part of the Division's mission statement.
AdministrationConsists of Executive and Support Staff responsible for all administrative activities including finance, personnel, capital improvements, union issues, legislative affairs, public relations and strategic planning.
Mission StatementLeadership, with responsible financial management, strategic planning, and customer service for both the employees and citizens.
Vision StatementFire Administration focuses its priorities for the future on strong financial management, employee services, labor relations, and customer service. This service center handles human resources, finance, legislative affairs, legal services, disciplinary actions, capital improvements and strategic long-range planning. Through its leadership, the Division is able to provide quality services to the citizens of Memphis.
FirefightingResponsible for the extinguishment and control of fires, emergency rescue, environmental hazards, emergency pre-hospital care, transportation to local hospitals, and disaster management including the Urban Search and Rescue operation. Safety Services and OSHA also fall under firefighting.
Mission StatementTo provide emergency response through community-based fire and emergency medical service, with emphasis on pre-hospital care and disaster preparedness to all the Citizens of Memphis.
Vision StatementTo be nationally recognized for progressive and innovative techniques in both Fire suppression and emergency care delivery enforcing a positive environment for public safety for Memphis. Firefighting will focus on preparing and maintaining its ability to respond to both manmade and natural disaster on both the local and national level.
Fire PreventionConsists of Code Enforcement, Arson Investigations, Anti-Neglect, and Public Education.
Mission Statement The Fire Prevention Bureau will increase the level of fire safety within the City of Memphis through the performance of comprehensive fire inspections, investigations and effective public education.
Vision StatementTo become nationally recognized as a leader in the development and implementation of effective fire safety programs.
