Proposed Parks
The following parks are ones that have been proposed or are under construction.
Countrywood Park - Chimneyrock Blvd. and Dexter Road
This design for the park is still being finalized. The design will be finalized and shown to the community in 2008. Construction is expected to start in 2009. The project will take approximately 6 months to complete with a projected construction budget of 1 million dollars. (See proposed design)
The proposed park will be 22 acres in size and improvements include:
- A pavilion with picnic tables
- Individual picnic tables throughout the park
- A 1 mile paved walking trail plus ¾ mile aggregate walking trail
- A picnic meadow
- Six small pedestrian bridges and one large pedestrian bridge
- A playground
- A 75 car parking lot
A community meeting was held on September 20, 2007 to receive feedback on the proposed design. At the end of the meeting the community was asked to fill out a survey to help the City meet the residents? needs. 70% of attendants favor the park being named "Fletcher Creek Park" after the creek that runs through it. Attendants also requested a spray-ground, tennis courts, and gates to the parking lot be added to the park design, and that the final park design be presented in a follow-up meeting in 2008.
Park Services will take all suggestions made on the survey and in the meeting under consideration when making the final park design. A meeting will be scheduled in 2008 where the final park design will be presented.
